For CPUs from the Skylake through Comet Lake architectures, Intel will only deliver important fixes and address security issues under the new approach. That implies that game support updates will no longer be made available to the aforementioned CPUs. The move affects all SKUs in the range, including the Core, Atom, Celeron, and Xeon CPUs. Instead, Intel will provide software updates every quarter or whenever it needs to fix important problems or security flaws.

Two drivers will now be included in the same bundle as the Intel Graphics Driver. It will include driver files for Intel processors from the 10th Generation and before as well as files for chips from the 11th Generation and after. The program must be downloaded and launched to complete installation. You won’t have to worry about choosing which driver to install because the program will choose the best one for your system automatically. Most users shouldn’t be impacted by Intel’s new graphics driver model because the chipmaker will still provide security updates. Just that new games won’t be playable on older iGPUs.
